If your locked out of your house or car, at times in can be an emergency, but if you just need a spare key then it's not such a big deal. In both situation you will need a locksmith who is capable of doing a competent job. If you've ever had a key cut badly you know how annoying it is when it gets jammed in the lock every night, and in some cases unscrupulous locksmiths will take advantage of you. So, finding a reputable locksmith who is able to do a competent job when you did it is very important.

One easy way to find a good locksmith is to simply ask around. Ask your friends and family what locksmiths they have used before and would they consider using their services again. Did the arrive on time? What did they charge for what services? Finding a locksmith this way can save you alot of time and money.

Always be sure to search for any locksmiths recommended online before hiring them to get a better idea about their company, prices and services. Additional check that the locksmith is a certified and endorsed of any relevant locksmithing organisations in your area. Most certification boards have a website where you can check an individuals membership.
